To your right is Blockhouse’s wild cherry tree grove. You can identify a cherry tree by the red dots that sit at the base of their leaves and the lines that run horizontally along their trunks. Can you spot these characteristics?
We believe these are wild cherries – quite small and sharp. They are perfect for making cherry jam, cordial, and/or candied cherries. There is one large old cherry tree near the centre of the grove, which we believe is the mother tree and the others have grown from seed around her.
