Kite Making Workshop

We got together to learn how to make home-made kites from natural, locally sourced and up-cycled materials. Mathis (who is originally from the Caribbean) grew up building and flying kites. During the COVID lockdown, she was inspired to make and fly kites on the beach in Florida. Mathis showed us how to do this fun and traditional activity – which we found very fulfilling, rewarding, relaxing, calming and therapeutic!

It was a bit too rainy to fly our kites on the day so we’ll be excited to come back to Blockhouse Park (perfect place to fly kites!!) soon to try them out.

This event is part of the Stoke Village Summer of Fun, and is supported by the Growing The Village Hub project (in partnership with Take A Part, and co-funded using money from the National Lottery by Arts Council England, Heritage Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund).
