We have been exploring the power of natural colour using plants and flowers sourced from our surroundings!! Artist, dyer and grower, Ffion Taverner showed us the ancient Japanese technique of Hapa Zome (hammering plant material on cloth) based on leaf printing, and we made our own patterns on cloth.
Using some of the plants and flowers Ffion grows herself, and leaves we find in Blockhouse Park, we explored the possibilities to create beautiful artwork, inspired by symmetry, colour and patterns in nature. Very noisy and very fun!! Farrah & Vicky were our assistants for the session – helping us if we got stuck or needed some advice.
