Over the next few weeks, we’ll be learning about how to make our own rag rugs, and work on a collaborative project together. Barbara Hampson from Glad Rags will be teaching us the skill of making a rag rug using proddy and hooking techniques. This is a FREE four week course on 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th September – it is recommended that you booking on all the sessions.
Here are some photos from the first session:
Barbara shared some amazing examples of community rug projects with us, including the We Are Not Doormats exhibition from 2016 – made & organised by the St Just WI, in Cornwall, UK. Here’s a video from their exhibition:
This event is part of the Stoke Village Summer of Fun, and is supported by the Growing The Village Hub project (in partnership with Take A Part, and co-funded using money from the National Lottery by Arts Council England, Heritage Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund).
