We have done our FIRST EVER outdoor screening of short videos, animations & sounds in Blockhouse Park!
Local residents, friends and people from further afield joined us for a lo-fi outdoor screening under the stars. We watched and listened to a selection of short videos – some experimental sights & sounds made by local residents, and saw the new Blockhouse Animations commission (chosen via our Community SOUP event earlier in the year).
This was the premier for Lily Bex’s new film
We had some home-made popcorn, soft drinks & snacks ready for everyone to enjoy! It was great to watch projections outdoors in Blockhouse Park, projected onto our homemade screen (sewed together by Rachel) & listening to the film soundtracks with silent disco headphones, hired from Diverse Events CIC.
Here’s some photos from the event:
This project is part of the Green Minds ‘Saplings’ Creative Commissions, where students from Arts University Plymouth were guided through a mentoring process by The Village Hub, and enabled to pitch to the local community for their proposed community art projects.
Additional funding and staff time was also drawn in through the Growing The Village Hub project (in partnership with Take A Part, and co-funded using money from the National Lottery by Arts Council England, Heritage Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund).
