Volunteering with The Village Hub

The Village Hub supports local people in Stoke & Morice Town to get involved in volunteering – see info below about our regular volunteer opportunities.

There are lots of ways that you can volunteer at The Village Hub from helping out at Community Events, on a day-to-day basis in The Village Hub, or perhaps you have a skill and would like to run a workshop, activity or group to share that with others.

To discuss volunteering, either drop in and have a chat during our opening times, alternatively Contact Us and we will be in touch.

Regular volunteering opportunities:

Stoke Village Fun Day

Each year, we host the Stoke Village Fun Day and always need people to help out with activities, stalls and volunteer staffing.

Let us know if you’d like to help out!

Newsletter Delivery

A few times a year, we deliver our printed newsletter to thousands of households around Stoke & Morice Town.

If you’d like to deliver newsletters to your street, please get in touch.

Gardening & Growing

There are lots of gardening and growing jobs that need doing around Stoke Village & Blockhouse Park.

If you enjoy being outdoors and would like to get involved, let us know!

Why volunteer?

There are lots of reasons why people volunteer at The Village Hub, so perhaps ask yourself if there is something specific you want to do or achieve as a volunteer.

For example, you might want to:

  • Improve your neighbourhood.
  • Meet new people with different outlooks or experiences.
  • Try something new.
  • Do something rewarding with your spare time.
  • See new places or experience a different way of living.
  • Try a new type of work that you might want to pursue as a full-time job.
  • Expand on your interests and hobbies.

How much time should you volunteer?

Volunteering doesn’t have to take over your life to be beneficial. In fact, research shows that just two to three hours per week, can offer the most benefits – The important thing is to volunteer only the amount of time that feels comfortable to you.

We have volunteers that pop into The Village Hub for 2 hours a week, some like to do 1 hour a month, and others just come on board for one-off activities or events.

Volunteering should feel like a fun and rewarding hobby, not another chore on your to-do list!
