My name is Mel Tucker and I would like to volunteer my time to be a Director of the Village Hub (disclaimer my partner Gareth Hart is already on The Board of Director’s of The Village Hub).
I grew up in Stoke, spending a large part of my childhood in Blockhouse Park and around the Village! I moved away for a few years but when I returned to Plymouth with my own family and found myself in Stoke once again, it was like coming home.
My partner and I have been running our own social enterprise business in Plymouth for nearly twelve years. As well as being a company director, I have lots of experience as a trustee and board member for various charities and community groups. I was Chair of our school parent-teachers association for five years. I am on the committee of Stonehouse Community Voices community choir and I sat on the decision-making panel for Devonport Community Fund. I volunteer my time with other organisations and groups including Plymouth Performing Arts Academy.
I have experience of planning and running community events and fundraising and am very well-organised and am generally a good all-rounder, happy to get stuck in where I can be of use. I would love the opportunity to give something back to my community by supporting the Village Hub.
