The Village Hub’s Culture Club was started by local residents Haidee Dampney and her friend Aqsa who got together and cooked up an idea for a new type of community group where people could bring and share food and creative activities from their own culture for others to enjoy.
This idea grew into our regular community feasts and monthly Culture Club meet ups – all using the celtic Wheel of The Year to decide on each seasonal theme.
Haidee was also joined by Carmen Wong & Jess Duffy (and later Kirsty Marrs) to lead the group, and supported by our Creative Community Builder Rachel to help develop a rolling programme that linked local people with the changing seasons and heritage.

Together, the team opened up the idea to create larger seasonal events like our newly established annual Blockhouse Wassail in January, Ceilidhs in May, and our Samhain X Black History Month celebration in Oct 2024.
